Annual Meeting 2024
Sunday, September 8 from 1 to 4 p.m.
CMU, Margaret Morrison Building, Room 203
After a brief business meeting to present our 2024-25 programs, we will host two activities. All members and interested calligraphers are welcome to attend.
Creating Weathergrams
Weathergrams have been a long tradition in the calligraphy community. The idea was created by Lloyd Reynolds, a calligraphy instructor and humanities professor at Reed College in Portland OR, who was inspired by Asian calligraphy and design. Weathergrams are simple quotes about nature of approximately 10 words written on brown paper and hung outdoors until they are weathered.
Bring your basic writing supplies such as pen, nibs, pencil, ruler, and a quote. Bring your preferred pointed nibs or broad-edge nibs (approx. 1-2 mm)* A Pilot Parallel Pen or crisp marker will work, too, if you do a horizontal format.
We will provide kraft paper, twine, hole punch, sumi and red ink, and rubber stamps. Also, we will have a quote sheet for ideas of what to write.
Make one Weathergram to take home and one to leave to hang as a group project.

Calligraphy Supply Swap
Bring calligraphy supplies you are no longer using to offer to other calligraphers in our first Calligraphy Supply Swap!
All calligraphy and art supplies are welcome as long as they have some life left in them. Holders, nibs, ink, paint, paper, books, tools.
Anything left at the end of the swap will be packed up and taken to donate to the Center for Creative Reuse.
